Hugh Miller is a prolific writer and of numerous books and writer of many well known British television series including Eastenders.
Home Ground is set in 1935 in a Welsh slate mining town where Megan Roberts returns, as a district nurse, to the home of her birth. She stays with a friend whom she once worked for, and quickly immerses herself in a village that held many sad memories for her. I always enjoy stories where the protagonist grows, despite many obstacles and Megan has both emotional and physical battles to overcome.
The characters were also in a District Nurse television series.
