The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro was a wonderful read. It spans settings in London, New York and Paris with beautiful descriptions and well written prose.
The story moves between Grace Monroe (London 1955) and Eva d'Orsey (New York 1920s). Eva d'Orsey begins work in a New York Hotel in her early teens and meets one of the guests, a maker of perfumes for the rich and famous - a woman who changes her life. Grace Monroe has received an inheritance from a woman she has never heard of and searches Paris for clues as to the connection she might have with her benefactor.

This one is going on my list of favorites for 2014.
