DFW Pug Rescue - Boca
Boca arrived at the Westcreek Animal Clinic after being found with a broken jaw and rescued by Dallas Fort Worth Pug Rescue. She stayed at the clinic for several months with her jaw hanging down, but without expertise in jaw reconstruction, there was little the clinic could do for the cute little dog. That was until a cardiac nurse who was a volunteer at the Pug Rescue Center, and knew of the pug’s plight, approached Dr. Ducic in the hallway of a local hospital. Dr. Ducic is a renowned Fort Worth surgeon specializing in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Although he had never attempted surgery on an animal, he was willing to give it a try and arranged for the necessary equipment, screws and plates to be donated by Stryker, a local medical equipment company. Dr. Ducic along with Dr. Inman, and a surgical team didn’t know what to expect, didn’t know if the donated screws were going to fit, or what size screws they were going to need, but the 90 minute surgery went without any problems and Boca’s jaw was reconstructed.
