Volunteering - Tarrant County Food Bank

On Friday morning I joined my daughter and a group from Texas Health Resources that had scheduled to work at the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The Food Bank currently has many programs. You can donate food, pack boxes to be delivered in the community, or provide new backpacks. Of course monetary donations are always welcome. The Backpack program provides a new backback filled with nonperishable food. They are handed out on Friday afternoons at local schools to children who might otherwise go hungry. The children keep their backpack and each Friday they are re-filled with a week-end's worth of food. Read the Star Telegram article here Check out programs in your community, just four hours of your time can make a big difference to a struggling family. As you can see we had a lot of fun working.

Sounds like a wonderful program and a great way to help out. The backpack program is really nice.

That sounds like a very worthy organization. In times like these, food banks are stretched to the max. It's wonderful that you and your daughter were able to help.
