Bluebonnets ripple
like a sea of blue
spread over an empty field
sunflowers point
their faces toward sunbeams
paintbrush blooms sway
red heads sprout
toward a gray sky
sirens blare
tornado spotted
ah! spring in Texas
A couple of years ago we drove to Ennis for the Bluebonnet Festival and the flowers were amazing. Apparently last year the bluebonnets weren't as colorful. I hadn't seen too many this year either until I came across this field in Benbrook. My granddaughter loved running in among the flowers.
We also stopped by to see J.B. and Susan Harlin who have showcased their wonderful black and white photographs throughout their home. J.B. showed us around their dark room and studio. Each of their photographs captures not only the scenery, but also brilliant light on the natural settings. J.B. designs and builds his own cameras. Stop by their site and take a look.
