Michael Palmer covers a multitude of subjects in Political Suicide: Politics, adultery, doctor addiction. The story begins when Dr. McHugh has an alcoholic blackout, after visiting Elias Colston, the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, resulting in a car accident. He calls his friend Dr. Lou Welcome, but his situation becomes increasingly worse when Dr. McHugh is accused of the murder of Elias Colston. Together with Dr. McHugh's attorney, Dr. Welcome investigates the crime but they uncover considerably more than the suspicious murder, involving national security.
