Divorced, Beheaded, Survived by Karen Lindsey

The wives of Henry VIII have long been a source of interest and this book title is from the rhyme learned in most English schools: Divorced - beheaded - died - divorced - beheaded - survived.

Karen Lindsey, in Divorced, Beheaded, Survived, separates each of the wives (from a feminist view) and the important players during Henry VIII's reign and explains each of their positions in Henry's court and how they were a vital part in his tyrannical governing of England.

From the cover: This book helps to restore full humanity to these six women. They appear not as stereotypes, not simply as victims, but as lively, intelligent noblewomen doing their best to survive in a treacherous court.

It's an interesting read and gives a different perspective of the women Henry encountered, but I think a chart showing the families and their connections might have been helpful.
