Housekeeping by Pulitzer Prize winner Marilynne Robinson is a story of two young girls who live with their grandmother after tragic events claimed the life of their mother. I'm assuming the title Housekeeping refers to their various eccentric caretakers' different homemaking skills or lack thereof. Housekeeping has won many awards and it would make a good book club read, but I found it at times confusing and very slow. Having said that, the prose is beautiful, giving good descriptions of the fictional town of Fingerbone, Idaho and of the lake holding secrets of its own.
