Although Go Set a Watchman was written first and the story in To Kill a Mockingbird was revealed in flashbacks in the first book, Ms. Lee's publisher thought the flashbacks should become a book of its own and the Go Set a Watchman manuscript was discarded and thought to have been destroyed, but found recently among archives. To Kill a Mockingbird continues to have over a million sales each year.
