Truth is Stanger than Fiction

Biggs holds a poster of himself
The Great Train Robbery was the heist of the century.  In 1963 Ronnie Biggs, along with a few gang members boarded a British train, which they had diverted into a dark area by changing the signals, and stole millions of English pounds. He was captured along with his gang, but after just over a year in prison escaped by scaling a prison wall and travelling to several countries before settling down in Rio De Janeiro where there was no extradition treaty. Refused parole because he had no remorse for his actions, he continued living in Rio where he amused locals and tourists with his stories of notoriety. He returned to England in 2001 for medical reasons and died yesterday. That's the short version. Read more about Ronnie Biggs the infamous character who escaped the authorities for more than 30 years here.  I'm sure this will spark the imagination of Hollywood.
