Dublin, Texas is the home of
Dublin Bottling Works. Founded in 1891, the company became the first to bottle Dr. Pepper and continued using glass bottles for their Dr. Pepper production until last year. Other soda companies began adding corn as a sweetener to their recipe (including Dr. Pepper), but Dublin Bottling Works used only Imperial Cane Sugar. After a legal battle with
Dr. Pepper Snapple over licensing, and using an unauthorized logo, Dublin Dr. Pepper, the bottling works was no longer permitted to use the name and discontinued bottling Dr. Pepper. You can read more about the history
here. Meanwhile,
Spittin' Image Films of Dallas has made a full length documentary about Dublin Dr. Pepper called
Bottled Up (featured at the USA Film Festival in Dallas) and was there to film the last day of production.
