I loved The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Of course, how could a move fail with such a cast including Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Seven retirees/English pensioners head to the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which is advertised to entice people in their golden years. What they find is a run down hotel, which Sonny (played by Dev Patel of Slumdog Millionaire fame) is trying desperately to keep afloat. Each of the seven has a story. Maggie Smith is there for hip surgery, Judi Dench finds out after her husband's death that he hadn't managed their money well, Tom Wilkinson wants to find someone he knew when he lived in India as a child, Bill Nighy and his wife find themselves with little funds in their retirement after their daughter used their savings to start a business that has failed.
Having worked together on different projects for years they all work well together as actors.
There are some great quotes. One I particularly liked delivered by Dev Patel is:
"Everything will be all right in the end and if it isn't then it's not the end."
