I love the cover on this book.
War and Watermelon by Rich Wallace reminded me a little of the The Wonder Years.
From the cover: August 1969 - Men walked on the moon for the first time last month, but things aren't any less crazy on Earth. My father and my brother are at each others' throats over the war in Vietnam and my brother's future. He turns eighteen next month. Draft age.
I'm going on thirteen. Trying out for football and trying to figure out girls.
Rich Wallace paints a vivid picture through the eyes of a thirteen year old that anyone who grew up in the 60s will recognize. Great story.
Thank you Confessions of a Real Librarian for sending me the book as a blog giveaway.
