No Reply Commenter

Are you a No Reply Commenter? Do you even know?  Recently I received a blog comment stating that I was a No Reply Commenter. After doing some research (Googling) I found a blog post from The Scrap Shop that solved The No Reply mystery. If you want to receive e-mail replies, follow the instructions on The Scrap Shop blog above. Thanks Jenclair from The Book Garden for letting me know. Apparently, you can choose that comments to your blog be forwarded to your e-mail address and the recipients can then reply by e-mail rather than going to your blog and leaving a comment, but that's a post for another day.

Umm BUT part of the fun for me is reading not just the post itself but the comments left by others.

I agree.

I too prefer a dialogue to appear in the comment section--or at least the potential. I really enjoy when my commenters have a discussion with me and interact with each other. It's also been an opportunity for bloggers to discover others with similar interests.
I rarely reply by direct email to someone who comments, but nearly always reply in my comment section.

I don't understand. It makes the process of commenting on a blog overly complicated. What's the point? Privacy?

If someone receives a comment on their blog they can respond to that person by e-mail and not have to log into the blog. At least I think that's the reason. I always respond on blogs so that others can see the comments.
