Roanoke, Texas

On Saturday we stopped at Roanoke Texas which is a small town south west of Grapevine Lake. There are plenty of restaurants along the main street but we stopped at Granny's Cupboard, which is next to the new Babe's Chicken House, and sampled a smidgen of their delicious fudge.

I love finding great little shops like this in out of way places. They're the best.

head west of Roanoke on 114, past the Texas Motor Speedway, north on 156 to Justin and west on 409 out to Propwash Airport (basically 15-20 minutes from Babe's) and that's where I work. Crazy, huh? Total goober country where anything can happen.

I love small towns! We went home to Fort Scott Kansas last week and meandered around Miller's Feed Store, the sale barn (love the smell of cow poop in the morning), and the hardward store my mom frequents. We found plants and Maruca bags..that is a big time diverse shop.
Stopped at the Nu Grill for the best burgers and curly fries. Nu Grill is right across the street from the old Civil War fort the town is named for. Just love that town.

Great pics! I had never heard of Roanoke and I lived in DFW for a few years. Thanks for sharing.
