David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

I've always loved the stories of Charles Dickens, and enjoyed his books and the adapted screenplays, but it's been ages since I picked up one to read and I'm not sure that I've ever read anything except shortened versions. I found this one at Half Price Books for $1. A bargain for nearly 800 pages of brilliant storytelling. I'd forgotten just how beautiful his prose is and the wonderful descriptions he gives us of quaint and unusual characters. The book is said to be close to an autobiography and Charles Dickens adds some of the tragedies of his life into the story. David Copperfield was first published in a magazine in monthly installments, which according to the book, was from May 1849 to November 1850.
My claim to fame: Charles Dickens was a well known figure in London during his time and apparently, when my grandmother worked in service (I believe she was an assistant cook) she met Charles Dickens when he visited for a dinner party.
