Deborah Crombie

I like to read mysteries, and I've already ploughed through the series of my favorite authors such as M.C. Beaton, Susan Wittig Albert, and Donna Leon, so was on the look out for something new. The first two series books I bought, I couldn't finish. The first one I had bonded with what I thought was the main character, and knew there was going to be a death, but when she was found dead in the third chapter I felt cheated, closed the book and put it in yard sale pile. The second book had so many point of view shifts (three in one paragraph) that I was taking Advil to alleviate the head ache brought on by my head spinning. It was then that I came across a post card, with Deborah Crombie's books listed, and a delightful picture of the smiling author. When I read that she was from Texas, but lives occasionally in London, I knew this was an author I would like. I took a look at the Deborah Crombie web site and after glancing at the pictures of her German shepherd, the bond was sealed. With ties to Texas and London, love of dogs (we also share the same birth year) I had no doubt that I would enjoy her writing, and sent off for her first mystery A Share in Death. I wasn't disappointed, and although out of sequence, I then began reading Where Memories Lie. Set in London, it brought with it a little nostalgia (I was born, and spent my childhood in London). Not only are Deborah Crombie's novels a delight to read, but the mysteries lure you in until you're page turning way past midnight. If you like mysteries, pick up a copy of one of Deborah Crombie's books, you won't be disappointed.

A Share in Death

All Shall be Well

Leave The Grave Green

Mourn not your Dead

Dreaming of the Bones

Kissed a sad Goodbye

A Finer End

And Justice There is None

Now May you Weep

In a Dark House

Water Like a Stone

Where Memories Lie

Necessary as Blood
